Getting wrapped up in Egyptian history

Our Year 4 pupils embarked on an enthralling trip to the land of sand, pyramids and Tutankhamun in December as they took part in a fantastic Ancient Egyptian workshop.

Forming part of this term’s History topic – ‘How much did the Ancient Egyptians achieve?’ – the children enjoyed participating in a range of activities in collaboration with the wonderful team at Workshop Widget.

They delved into the intricacies of hieroglyphics, decoding messages and using ink to write their own.

Each class also experienced a captivating virtual reality session, during which they strolled along the banks of the River Nile and gazed in awe at the iconic pyramids.

The highlight for many was getting hands-on with mummification, as the children learned about the gory preservation process. They gained insight into how various organs were removed and even enjoyed getting wrapped up themselves!

The experience was fun, immersive and sparked pupils’ enthusiasm for History.
