Sensational Stone Age Workshop
In September, our Year 3 pupils participated in a fantastic Stone Age workshop.Linking in with this term’s History topic – and our big question, ‘What was new about the Stone Age – children took part in a variety of interactive activities that really brought learning to life and strengthened their understanding of the subject.
They immersed themselves in all aspects of the Stone Age. They carded fresh wool and then used it to create a weave. They used a quern stone to mill flour from wheat and churned butter to create their own milk.
The pupils examined real-life animal skins and historical artefacts, crafted woven bracelets and even made a miniature Stone Age House.
The highlight for many, though, was the opportunity to use a virtual reality headset, which allowed the children to have a look around a Stone Age site and see exactly what local inhabitants of the time saw.
It was an incredibly enriching experience and one the children thoroughly enjoyed.
