Thrive Ambassador School

At Newhall Junior School, we have been using the Thrive approach for three years and now have three licensed practitioners. The scheme places strong emphasis on building and maintaining strong relationships with pupils and recognising the need to tailor provision to support their social and emotion needs. This is achieved via the creation of customised action plans through Thrive Online, enhancing specific areas of development and promoting growth.

To achieve Thrive Ambassador School recognition, we completed a self-assessment for the three areas: Environment, Reparative, and Right-Time. We were also visited by a Thrive Regional Development Manager during the last academic year.

Our application was then reviewed for three months before – on 25^th September – we received confirmation that we had officially been named a Thrive Ambassador School with Excellence. In doing so, we have met a rigorous criterion that shows our school is an inspirational space with extraordinary commitment to developing healthy, happy children, where staff go above and beyond to make a positive impact on them.

As part of this approach, every year we conduct a Pupil Voice, asking our children what they think about Thrive. They said:

“I feel happy and safe doing thrive.”

“I can tell a grown-up who I trust if I’m sad.” 

“Thrive makes me happy. It has started to help me talk to people about my feelings.” 

“Thrive makes me feel calm. I have learnt sensations words to help me talk about how I feel.” 

“I like to use the check in scale, so people know how I feel.” 

“It is a privilege to be a Thrive school and we are all incredibly proud of this achievement,” said Lisa George.

We look forward to continuing our important work at Newhall, supporting our children, emotionally, socially and academically, ensuring they become the best version of themselves.
